Northern Portion of the Newport North Apartment Homes - Virtual Community Meeting, Wednesday, March 26, 2025
The Santa Ana Water Board is hosting a virtual meeting to provide an overview of the Draft Feasibility Study (FS) for the Newport North Apartment Homes community. The Draft FS evaluates different ways to address contamination found in soil gas (air in between soil particles), indoor air, and groundwater found north of Mallorca Drive and Felicidad Street. The Santa Ana Water Board approved a Feasibility Study for the southern portion of the Newport North Apartment Homes in April 2023.
This meeting will include a short presentation followed by a question-and-answer session with subject matter experts from the Santa Ana Water Board and Ford Motor Company. The meeting will be recorded and uploaded to this website and on GeoTracker, the Santa Ana Water Board’s online database, for those who cannot attend live.

In 2021-23, the Santa Ana Water Board is hosting a series of community-specific meetings to present the draft Feasibility Study or draft Feasibility Study/Remedial Action Plan for that community.
Corsica Villa Townhomes
The Water Board made the Draft Feasibility Study (FS) for the southern portion of the Corsica Villa Townhomes community available for public comment from May 22 to June 21, 2023. The Draft FS addresses contamination found in soil gas (air in between soil particles), indoor air and groundwater and evaluates different ways to address these impacts.
On June 7, 2023, the Water Board hosted a virtual public meeting to provide an overview of the draft FS. The meeting included a short presentation with details on how to provide public comments. A copy of the meeting presentation, recording and associated handouts are included below.

Newport North Apartment Homes
The Water Board made the draft Feasibility Study (FS) for the southern portion of the Newport North Apartment Homes community available for public comment from August 15 to September 14, 2022. The Newport North Apartment Homes has been divided into a southern and northern portion due to the size of the community, phases of vapor intrusion assessment and ongoing environmental investigation activities. The draft FS addresses contamination found in soil gas, indoor air and groundwater in the southern area, which is located north of Bison Avenue and south of Mallorca Drive and Felicidad Street. Vapor intrusion assessment and investigation activities for the northern portion of the community are ongoing, and the need for a draft FS will be determined at a later date once sufficient data is collected.
The Water Board also held a community meeting to provide an overview of the draft FS, answer questions and accept comments. A recording of the meeting and a copy of the presentation are below.

On January 24, 2024, Ford’s environmental consultant, WSP, hosted a community meeting to provide more information on the soil vapor extraction (SVE) system installation work and measures that will be taken to reduce impacts to the community. Bayridge Park Community
On May 17, 2023, the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board (Water Board) hosted a community meeting to provide more information on the need to construct sub-slab depressurization (SSD) systems at homes where vapor intrusion has been identified in Bayridge Park. For this meeting, the Santa Ana Water Board invited the property owners and residents that currently operate or have been offered air purifier units (APUs) to address vapor intrusion associated with Ford’s historical operations. The meeting included a presentation followed by a question-and-answer session. The South Coast Air Quality Management District (Air District) distributed a Notice of Intent to Issue “Permits to Construct and Operate” for the Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) treatment systems at Bayridge Park and Belcourt Terrace. The public was welcome to provide comments through September 15, 2023. The permit was approved on October 20, 2023.
